Ramadan Celebrations Begin at TAV Airports...

TAV Airports Holding is hosting several activities at the airports it operates during the month of Ramadan to offer its passengers enjoyment. This year’s Ramadan celebrations will begin at Ankara Esenboğa Airport followed by Istanbul Atatürk and Izmir Adnan Menderes Airports. TAV Airports’ Traditional Ramadan Celebrations started with the first activity held at Ankara Esenboğa Airport on Monday (today) the 16th of August, 2010. With activities organized for special days, this year TAV Airports aims to maintain enthusiasm throughout Ramadan with activities held at Istanbul Atatürk and Ankara Esenboğa Airports, as well as at the International Terminal of Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport. TAV Esenboğa Airport General Manager Nuray Demirer emphasized the importance of airports as places where passengers receive their first and last impressions of a country, remarking that they aim to offer a pleasant and stress free time to passengers prior to their flights with cultural activities held on special days throughout the year. Demirer stated that they have undertaken a mission of cultural ambassadorship by promoting traditional Turkish art at the award-winning Ankara Esenboğa Airport, which is equipped with the latest technology in one of the most talked-about capitals in the world. Demirer also said that they started the first of this year’s activities at Ankara Esenboğa Airport in parallel with this mission of cultural ambassadorship as adopted by TAV Airports Holding. She continued, “Several activities which are very popular particularly amongst foreign tourists will also be exhibited as part of Ramadan at Izmir Adnan Menderes and Istanbul Atatürk Airports in the forthcoming days. We continue to keep alive our values characteristic of Ramadan.” A variety of Ramadan entertainment is on display at Ankara Esenboğa Airport throughout the month of Ramadan, including Sema Shows (Dervishes whirling to sufi music) on Mondays, ”Seyrü Sefa” on Tuesdays, Story Tellers on Wednesdays such as Karagöz & Hacivat, Aşuk & Maşuk, Puppet and shadow shows, paper marbling on Thursdays and mini “Fasıl” concerts on Fridays. Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is hosting an unusual exhibition as part of its Ramadan Celebrations. Pieces created by masters of Turkish comic history which incorporate pictures and graphics in a unique format will be on display at the “Karagöz-Hacivat” Exhibition during the month of Ramadan. Istanbul Atatürk Airport will be participating in the celebrations with Sema Shows on Fridays and an exhibition entitled “Ebru Tekneleri” at the TAV Gallery. The TAV Gallery, a culture and arts forum of TAV Airports Holding, will be offering passengers the opportunity to get to know and practice the paper marbling art.
